Universal star Mohanlal takes up the role of a divorcee in the film, \'Grandmaster\'. He lives alone in a dark and violent city. Even when unlawful incidents take place around him, he withdraws himself from all responsibilities and is happy to live quietly.But he is forced to change and take up his duties and responsibilities. Like a grandmaster who anticipates his opponents moves well in advance, he proceeds forward. But only once, just once, he makes a fatal mistake. His whole life is drastically altered. B.Unnikrishnan directs the film. The movie is produced by Ronnie Screwvala under UTV Motion Pictures. Roma Asrani is one of the heroines. B.Unnikrishnan describes the movie as \'The Story of a Dark City\'. Mohanlal arrives in the city on transfer as a high official. According to the Director, this film will be fast paced thriller and the viewers will be spell bound! Deepak Dev is the Music Director for \'Grand Master\'.

Unnikrishnan who rendered the song \'Amma Mazhakkarinnu Kan Niranju\' in the film \'Madambi\', sings yet another sad song in \'Grandmaster\'. Both Unnikrishnan and Deepak Dev believe that this song,\'Arikeyo nee akaleyo..vida tharathe enthe poyi nee\' will enter this year Hit Charts. Including the title song, the movie contains three songs.
